Colonel John Wheeler Middle School is located in Crown Point, Indiana (“Best Place to Live" by the NWI Times 2010-2020). Anchored by the Old Lake County Courthouse built in 1878, our steadily growing school features something for all students including a rigorous curriculum and a variety of extra-curricular activities.
Colonel John Wheeler Middle School opened in August of 2007 and currently has approximately 950 students in grades six, seven, and eight.
Colonel John Wheeler Middle School believes:
- Student success must start through the development of positive personal relationships for all stakeholders.
- Student success must be developed through a rigorous curriculum and high expectations
- Student success is a shared responsibility between students, teachers, parents and the community.
- Curriculum and instruction must match the unique developmental needs of the middle level.
- Teachers must provide students with critical thinking opportunities.
- Transitions from elementary to middle and middle to high school must be strong.
- All students must be afforded the opportunity to learn and succeed.
