Col. Wheeler offers an 8th Grade Treble Choir, 7th Grade Treble Choir, 7th/8th Grade Tenor-Bass Choir, and a 6th Grade Choir.  Separating treble and tenor-bass voices in the upper grades allows for individualized instruction based on the differing development of these voices.  The department also offers a vocal jazz group (Minor Details) that features performers from all grades.  The choirs perform 4 concerts throughout the year and participate in state-wide and regional music festivals.

Each ensemble in our program has the goal of not only developing individual music literacy skills, but also vocal technique and performance skills while exposing students to a wide variety of choral music of the highest quality.

The Crown Point Choirs is a thriving program of over 500 performers, known for excellence, consistently earning high accolades including the ISSMA All-Music Award. Our rich history includes awards and performances at the local, state, regional, and national levels. Recently, Crown Point Choirs have performed at Candlelight Processional at Epcot in Orlando, with the Northwest Indiana Symphony Orchestra, for the Chicago Wolves, for conferences of the American Choral Directors Association, and at multiple Indiana State School Music Association events including eight concert organization state finals appearances.

The Band Program provides instruction for all grades. The 7th and 8th Grade classes are full ensemble classes. The 6th Grade classes are broken up into Brass, Woodwind, and Percussion Instruments. This allows for individual instruction at the beginner level. The bands perform 4 concerts throughout the year and compete in ISSMA Solo & Ensemble and ISSMA Organizational Events in the spring.

The department also offers a Jazz Band that features performers from the 7th & 8th grades. This group meets afterschool 2 times a week and performs at a few concerts throughout the year. The group is selected by audition in the fall and competes at the ISSMA Jazz Festival in March.
